PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This ultra-premium straw western hat combines a classic western profile with premier grade 20 Panama straw in one timeless package. Grades of Panama straw are determined by the tightness of the weave, with 20 registering as “extra fine,” resulting in a lightweight hat of unbeatable resilience with a smooth, almost fabric-like feel.
Panama hats as we know them, actually come from Ecuador, where the tradition of intricately hand-weaving toquilla straw hats pre-dates the 15th century. When Teddy Roosevelt wore his Ecuadorian-made toquilla hat on his return trip from the Panama canal, so-called “Panama” hats became an essential warm-weather style for the well-dressed, well-traveled gentleman.
The body of the El Fino is traditionally handwoven one strand at a time in Ecuador and finished at our factory in Texas. It has a regular oval 4 ?” cattleman crown and 4 ?” medium curved brim, with an intricately tooled leather hat band, gold-tone Stetson pin and genuine leather sweatband.

True Heritage
Our story begins in the 1860s, when John B. Stetson was prospecting for gold in the Colorado Rockies and, struck by a sudden rainstorm, quickly fashioned a felt hat for protection. The modern cowboy hat was born, and more than a century and a half later, John B.’s pioneering legacy and commitment to quality live on in everything we make.
